Inter Milan and Bayern Munich face off on Wednesday in a Group C UEFA Champions League showdown at San Siro. 

Inter Milan comes into this game sitting in 8th place in Serie A having picked up nine points this season. In the last game they faced off against AC Milan, and the offense scored two goals, but the defense gave up three, and that led to the loss. They actually scored the first goal, but they allowed three unanswered goals and that led to the defeat. Inter has scored 11 goals this season, while their defense has given up eight goals. Lautaro Martínez has been the top player, scoring three goals and adding another assist. Romelu Lukaku is still dealing with a thigh injury, and it’s not expected that he is going to be able to go in this game. Henrikh Mkhitaryan looks like he is 100 percent heading into this one, but he is expected to come off the bench here. 

On the other side of this matchup is Bayern Munich, who currently sits in 3rd place in the Bundesliga having picked up 11 points. For most teams, that would be good, but they can’t feel good about where they are right now. In the last game against Union Berlin, Bayern only managed one goal and that led to the 1-1 draw. Bayern has scored 17 goals total, while their defense has given up three goals. Sadio Mané has been a welcome addition to the team, scoring three goals. Leon Goretzka is back from a knee injury and could start in this game. In this game, they need to be the team to push numbers forward to really try to put the pressure on the Inter defense. 

Even though Inter is at home, they will be very happy with a point, and I expect they are going to go into a defensive shape here. Their defense is going to be good, and it’s going to allow them to stay in this game. Inter might not do enough, but they are going to do enough for at least a draw. Back Inter Milan +0.5.
