Inter and Atalanta are clashing at Giuseppe Meazza in round 6 of the Italian Serie A. Inter have been on fire so far this season, their offense is still going strong, and they are still undefeated. Atalanta is not scoring as much as they would like to, but they are in 5th place with 10 points.
Inter has scored an impressive 18 goals so far this season, and their defense has also been solid with 5 conceded goals. Inter is also on a 2-game winning streak during which they scored 9 goals and conceded only 2 goals. Dzeko is the leading goalscorer for Inter with 4 goals, while Martinez added 3 goals. Barella has been in excellent form as well, and he has 4 assists. Sensi and Vidal are injured, while Correa is still questionable. Inter was playing against Fiorentina in their last game, and they have had 47% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 8 corner kicks, 5 big chances created, and 85% of the correct passes. Inter was sloppy in the first half, and they conceded a goal in the 23rd minute. Inter has stepped up their game in the second half, and with 3 unanswered goals, Inter has won this game 1-3. After losing to Real Madrid in round 1 of the Champions League, they really need a win in round 2, but it will not be easy as they are playing against Shakhtar Donetsk on the road.
Atalanta has finally gained some consistency, but as I’ve mentioned, they are not scoring as much as they would want to. Atalanta has scored only 6 goals so far, they have conceded 4 goals, and they are now in 5th place with 10 points. In their last 3 games, Atalanta has 2 wins and a draw, and they have scored 5 goals during that streak. Earlier this week against Sassuolo, Atalanta was decent with 48% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 5 corner kicks, 4 big chances created, and 82% of the correct passes. This was a game where Atalanta didn’t force anything, they remained focused on the defensive end, and they have won this game 2-1. Hateboer and Muriel are injured, and I would argue Atalanta is missing those two players to give them some calmness on the defensive end, and another great option in the attacking end. Atalanta will also be playing in the Champions League next week, but they are playing at home, and that will be a nice advantage for them.
Games between these two teams are usually entertaining, and I think this one will be too. Both teams are in decent form, and while Inter is better on both ends, I think Atalanta will surprise us here. I’m taking the draw.
