Inter is hosting Liverpool at Giuseppe Meazza in the round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League. Inter is probably the best team in Italy, but their defense has been declining as of late, which could be a problem here. Liverpool is once again on a nice winning streak, they are solid defensively, but they are not scoring as much as they would like to.

Despite being the best team in Serie A, Inter is no longer at the top of the table because they failed to win in their last 2 Serie A games. First, Inter has lost to Milan, and after that, they have tied with Napoli. Offensively, Inter is doing well this season, and they have scored 55 goals in Serie A so far, and they are one of the best defensive teams as well with 20 conceded goals. As far as the Champions League goes, Inter wasn’t the best in the group stage, but they did end in 2nd place, and that was enough for them to get to the knockouts. Gosens, Correa, and Bastoni are all injured, while Barella is suspended for this Champions League game. This will be a really hard game for Inter despite them being the best team in Italy, and their defense will need to step up if they want a positive result.

Liverpool is now on a 6-game winning streak, but they have scored only 3 goals in their last 2 games, and that number would usually be a lot higher. Liverpool did get Salah and Mane back for their last EPL matchup, and they were both playing, but they haven’t gotten back into the rhythm after getting back from the African Cup of Nations. Offensively, Liverpool was one of the best teams in the Champions League group stage with 17 scored goals, while their defense has also been pretty solid with 6 conceded goals in 6 games. Origi is the only injured player for Liverpool at the moment. With 7 goals, Salah is leading Liverpool in the Champions League, and hopefully, he can score again for them in this game. Liverpool is good, they are solid on both ends, but as I’ve mentioned, they are not scoring as much as they want, which could become a problem if it will be happening for much longer.

Inter and Liverpool have played only 2 games against each other in the past, and Liverpool has won both. Both teams are solid, and I think Inter got lucky in this spot because Liverpool is not scoring a lot, which could make this game really boring. I will take the draw in this one.
