Juventus and Atalanta are clashing at Allianz Stadium in round 14 of the Italian Serie A. Juventus is not scoring a lot, and they have gotten demolished in the Champions League earlier this week, and overall, Juventus is not doing so well. Atalanta is scoring a lot once again, but they just can’t defend right now, and it might cost them a spot in the Champions League.

Juventus was on a 3-game winning streak before they forgot to show up for that game against Chelsea earlier this week. Juventus has had 46% of ball possession, 2 shots on goal, 3 corner kicks, 1 big chance created, and 82% of the correct passes. Stat-wise, not a bad game for Juventus, but they ended up losing this game 4-0. So far in Serie A, Juventus is in 6th place with 21 points, but they will need a lot more offense to climb the standings. Dybala and Bonucci are leading goalscorers for Juventus with 3 goals each. Dybala has also added 3 assists. Good thing Juventus is safe in the Champions League, so at least that is going their way, but Serie A is not their cup of tea this season. I think Juventus is out of the title race in Italy, but we will see how far they can get in the Champions League, I suspect not far.

Atalanta has scored 18 goals in their last 7 games, but when they needed a win the most, they failed. It was earlier this week in the Champions League where Atalanta needed a win, and they were playing against Young Boys on the road. Atalanta has had 41% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 5 corner kicks, and 2 big chances created. The first half was excellent for Atalanta, but they got sloppy in the second half, and in the end, they needed to save themselves from a loss. The final score of this game was 3-3. Atalanta is now in 3rd place in the Champions League, which means they need a win against Villarreal in the last round, but the good news is they are playing at home. Zapata is playing better and better, and he now has 8 goals to his name. Pasalic has added 4 goals and 5 assists. As far as Serie A goes, Atalanta is now in 4th place with 25 points, 27 scored goals, and 17 conceded goals, and they are very close to the top. I think Atalanta has enough offense to go against any team out there, but their lack of focus on the defensive end is comical, and they need to improve that as soon as possible.

Atalanta hasn’t had much success against Juventus, at home or on the road, but they are in good goalscoring form right now. Juventus is always sold against big teams, and they will probably do well in this game, but I just can’t help myself but think Atalanta is the superior team right now.
