Leeds United and Aston Villa are clashing at Elland Road in round 20 of the English Premier League. Leeds has been playing a bit better since the new coach arrived, but they are still on a losing streak. Aston Villa has been able to connect two wins together, and they have destroyed Southampton at home this past weekend.
Leeds has managed to stay outside the relegation zone despite their bad results, but I think brighter days are ahead of them. With 23 points, Leeds is in 16th place, they have scored only 29 goals, while they are the worst defensive team in the league with 61 conceded goals. The schedule is good for Leeds ahead, and I think they could finally win some points, but it will be a hard task for them. There are still a few important injured players like Phillips, Cooper, and Roberts in Leeds, but they are managing somehow. Raphinha is the leading goalscorer for Leeds with 9 scored goals, and he is expected to lead Leeds once again. As I’ve mentioned, Leeds has looked a bit better, but the road ahead of them is long and winding, but I see Leeds finding their way.
Aston Villa is also one of the teams that are trending in the right direction, and I think they might be very active on the market over the summer. Aston Villa is now on a 2-game winning streak, and they are in 11th place with 33 points. Both offensively and defensively, Aston Villa is solid with 37 scored and 37 conceded goals. As far as Villa’s schedule goes, it will get a bit harder in the coming weeks, but Aston Villa is mostly healthy, and their form is improving. In their last 2 games, Aston Villa has scored 6 goals while keeping 2 clean sheets. Watkins is leading the team with 7 scored goals, while Ings and Ramsey have added 5 goals each. Ings has also added 4 assists. Nakamba, Chukwuemeka, Digne, and Konsa are all injured. I think Aston Villa is too far away from the Europa League, and the competition is really strong in the EPL, but I see them ending the season somewhere in the middle of the table, which isn’t bad at all.
The trends are even in this matchup, but Aston Villa is in much better form here. Leeds is terrible defensively, and even though they have been improving, it might take a few more weeks before they start turning things around. I will take a shot with Aston Villa.
