Levante is hosting Atletico Madrid at Ciudad de Valencia in round 11 of the Spanish LaLiga. Levante is having a terrible season so far, and they are in dire need of a victory. Atletico isn’t playing their best soccer so far this season, but they are a good team, and that will turn around soon.
Levante has 5 losses and 5 draws this season, they have scored 9 goals, while conceding 18 goals, and that is simply not good enough to be competitive in this league. In their last 5 games, Levante has 4 losses and a draw, and they have scored in only 1 of those 5 games. Levante was playing against Sevilla on the road this past weekend, and they have had 39% of ball possession, 7 shots on goal, 3 corner kicks, 3 big chances created, and a solid 85% of the correct passes. Despite scoring 3 goals in this game, Levante couldn’t win because their defense was horrible, and they ended up losing this match 5-3. Morales has been playing well for Levante, and he has 4 goals to his name. Mustafi is now the only injured player for Levante. I suppose the good news for Levante is they are still close to the safe zone, but they need to win some points soon if they want to get out of the relegation zone, otherwise, it will be a very tough season for them.
Atletico Madrid is in 7th place with 18 points, but with a win here, Atletico could climb a few spots, and that is something they wouldn’t mind if you ask me. Offensively, Atletico must do better, and they can do better, but their defense also must improve. Even though Atletico has conceded only 8 goals, this defense is nothing compared to their defense last season. Suarez is the leading goalscorer for Atletico with 6 goals, while Correa added 3 goals. Llorente and Lemar are the only 2 injured players for Atletico Madrid. In their latest game, Atletico was hosting Real Sociedad, and they were the better team with 56% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, 2 big chances created, and 85% of the correct passes. Maybe Atletico deserved more in this game, but they can be lucky they even got the draw out of it. The final score was 2-2. The schedule is not the best for Atletico over the next week, but they need the win in the Champions League, and they need it bad, but they are facing Liverpool, and that will be a tough game for them.
Levante is struggling, a lot, and I just don’t see the light at the end of the tunnel for this team, at least not yet. Atletico is playing well, and they are the favorites here, but not as big as I would expect, which means the price is right! I’m taking Atletico on the road.
