Liverpool and Aston Villa face off on Saturday in an English Premier League showdown at Anfield.  When these two teams faced off in April it was Liverpool that won 2-1.

Liverpool currently sits in 2nd place in the standings having picked up 34 points. Liverpool is playing some good soccer coming into this game having won four games in a row in the Premier League. In the last game against the Wolves the defense was strong and that led to a 1-0 victory. Liverpool also played a midweek game against AC Milan and they won that game 1-0. Liverpool has scored 44 goals while their defense has given up 12 goals. Mohamed Salah has been the top player for Liverpool scoring 13 goals and adding another nine assists. Diogo Jota has also been good, scoring eight goals and adding an assist.

On the other side of this matchup is Aston Villa who sit in 10th place in the standings having picked up 19 points. Aston Villa has been a little inconsistent but they are coming off a 2-1 victory over Leicester City. Ezri Konsa scored both goals in that game. Aston Villa has scored 21 goals total while their defense has given up 24 goals. Ollie Watkins has been the top player for Aston Villa scoring four goals. In this game, if Aston Villa wants to find a chance to come away with a victory, the offense is going to need to be a lot better. 

Liverpool is the better team, and even though I think Aston Villa won’t look awful, they just don’t have the offense to stay in this game. Look for Liverpool to score at least two goals and that will be enough to win this game -1.5 Back Liverpool -1.5.
