Liverpool and Leicester City face off on Thursday in an English Premier League showdown at Anfield. When these two teams faced off on December 28th, Leicester City came away with the 1-0 victory. 

Leicester City only managed one shot on goal in that game, but it went in the back of the net and that led to the victory. 

Liverpool comes into this game sitting in second place in the standings having picked up 48 points this year. Liverpool have won four games in a row across all contests, and in the last game against Crystal Palace, they won 3-1. Virgil van Dijk started the scoring in the 8th minute, and that started an impressive game. Liverpool has scored 58 goals total while their defense has given up 19 goals total. Mohamed Salah has been the top player for Liverpool scoring 16 goals and adding nine assists. Diogo Jota has also scored ten goals and added an assist. 

On the other side of this matchup is Leicester City who sits in 10th place in the standings having picked up 26 points. Leicester City has been ultra inconsistent this year, and in their last FA Cup against Nottm Forest, they were defeated 4-1. The last Premier League game was against Brighton,  and that ended in a 1-1 draw. On the season, Leicester City has scored 34 goals total while their defense has given up 37 goals total. Jamie Vardy has been the top player for Leicester City but he is still out with injury. James Maddison has scored six goals and added three assists, and they are going to need some goal scoring in this game. More importantly, though, the defense needs to be good.

I don’t see a whole lot of defense being played in this game, and that will lead to this game going well over the total. Leicester City’s defense has had some major issues, and Liverpool could score three or four goals by themselves. Back the over.
