Liverpool and Newcastle United face off on Thursday in an English Premier League showdown at Anfield. When these two teams faced off in April the two teams played to a 1-1 draw. This is a key game for both teams for different reasons. 

Liverpool currently sits in 2nd place in the standings having picked up 37 points. Liverpool has won five games in a row, and they have been locking down opponents’ offenses. In the last game against Aston Villa they had 63 percent of the possession and didn’t allow their opponent to have any shots on goal and that led to the 1-0 victory. Liverpool has scored 45 goals total while their defense has given up 12 goals total. Mohamed Salah has been the top player for Liverpool scoring 14 goals and adding nine assists. Diogo Jota has scored eight goals and added an assist. 

On the other side of this matchup is Newcastle who sits in 19th place in the standings having picked up 10 points.
