Mexico vs. USA 3/24/22 CONCACAF World Cup Qualifications Soccer Pick, Predictions, and Odds

Mexico and USA are clashing at Azteca Stadium in round 12 of the CONCACAF World Cup qualifications. Mexico is in 3^rd place, they could still end up in first or second, but they will be going to the World Cup regardless. The USA is in 2^nd place, they have been playing well, but they can do even better, and they should.

Honestly, after what has happened in Mexico a few weeks ago, I’m surprised that Mexico hasn’t been kicked out of these qualifications and the World Cup, but who am I to talk about that. With 21 points, Mexico is now in 3^rd place, they have scored a solid 14 goals, while their defense has also been solid with only 8 conceded goals. In their last 3 games, Mexico is playing against a few solid teams, but this game against Mexico is the hardest by far. Jimenez is the leading goalscorer for Mexico with 2 goals. I don’t think it matters much from which spot Mexico qualifies to the World Cup, but I’m sure it feels nicer to qualify from the top spot.

The USA is probably one of the most talented young teams in the world, they have a lot of great young, but already experienced players who just need the right coach. The USA is also safe, and they will be going to the World Cup. The USA has scored 16 goals so far in these qualifications, and their defense has been slightly better than Mexico’s, but they are a bit inconsistent. In their last 7 games, the USA has lost only 1 game while winning 5, and their form is quite good. Pulisic and McKennie are leading goalscorers for the USA with 2 goals each, and they are both expected to be in the lineup in this game. Same as Mexico, the USA can still end up in the top spot, but they will be going to the World Cup, and that is a huge accomplishment for this young team.

The USA has won their last 3 games against Mexico, but they were both at home. Mexico hasn’t lost any of their last 11 home games, and it’s very hard to beat them on their pitch. I think this could be an exciting matchup because both teams are safe, but that could also be a reason for a boring game. I hope it will be the first one.
