Milan is welcoming Atletico Madrid to San Siro in round 2 of Group B of the UEFA Champions League. Milan has been in solid form so far this season, and they have lost only 1 of their last 9 games. Atletico has started this season with sloppy defense, and their offense is not producing enough to compensate.

Milan has been excellent so far in Serie A this season, they are still undefeated, and they are in 2nd place with 16 points. Defensively, Milan has been surprisingly good with only 3 conceded goals in Serie A, but their defense hasn’t been that good in the Champions League. In their last game against Spezia on the road, Milan was the dominant team with 63% of ball possession, 5 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, 2 big chances created, and 84% of the correct passes. The first half was slow, but the second half was eventful. Milan has scored 2 goals in this game, and they have won this match 1-2. In the Champions League, Milan has lost to Liverpool, but on a positive note, they have scored a couple of goals, and after almost 10 years without the Champions League, that was satisfying. Milan is a good team, a great team, and I think they will win the Serie A title this season, but we will see how far they can get in the Champions League.

Atletico is one of the best teams in Spain, that is a fact, but they have been a bit sloppy on both ends this season. in their last game, Atletico was playing against Alaves on the road, a game they were supposed to win easily, but it looks like they were already thinking about this game, and they ended up losing 1-0. In round 1 of the Champions League, Atletico was hosting Porto, and that was a tough game, defensively solid on both sides, and it ended in a 0-0 draw. there aren’t any injuries in Atletico right now, but they are still trying to figure out the chemistry with Griezmann back in the lineup, and the sooner they do that, the better for them. Traditionally, Atletico is a tough team to beat in the Champions League, no matter who they play against, and I’m sure this will be the case this season as well.

Milan has never beaten Atletico, but their last game was back in 2014. Milan is in better form right now, a more complete team, but that is in Serie A. Atletico is struggling right now, and that is the chance for Milan to get their first win of the season in the Champions League.
