Napoli and the Rangers face off on Wednesday in a UEFA Champions League soccer Group A showdown at Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
When these two teams faced off on September 14th it was the Rangers that were able to secure the 3-0 victory. Napoli scored three goals after the 68th minute and that was enough to secure the comfortable victory. Napoli had 57 percent of the possession and 10 shots on target. Rangers had 43 percent of the possession and three shots on target.
Napoli currently sits in 1st place in the group, having picked up 12 points in the group. Napoli’s last Champions League game came against Ajax, and they were able to secure a 4-2 victory in that game. Hirving Loranzo started the scoring in the 4th minute, and they never looked back on the way to the victory. On Sunday, Napoli played against Roma, and they were able to secure a 1-0 victory. Amir Rrahmani is dealing with an injury, and he’s not going to be able to go in this game.
On the other side of this matchup is the Rangers, who sit in 4th place in the standings, having picked up zero points. The Rangers last Champions League game came against Liverpool, and they really struggled in that game, giving up seven goals. Scott Arfield started off the scoring in the 17th minute for the Rangers, but the defense couldn’t hold on. On Saturday, the Rangers faced off against Livingston and that game ended in a 1-1 draw. John Lundstram scored in the 91st minute to secure the draw. The Rangers are super banged up heading into this game, and they will be without John Souttar, Ryan Jack, Connor Goldson, and Filip Helander who are dealing with injuries.
The Rangers haven’t had any points picked up yet in the Champions League, and it’s not going to change here. This Rangers team hasn’t been all that impressive this season, and their offense just isn’t good enough to compete in this game. Look for Napoli to find the back of the net a couple of times and this will be a comfortable victory. Back Napoli -1.5 to cash here.
