Napoli is welcoming Torino to Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in round 8 of the Italian Serie A. Napoli is having an incredible season, and honestly, I wouldn’t hate them if they win Serie A. Torino has improved a lot since last season, but they have a few important injuries, and I hope they get rid of those soon.
Napoli is the best team in Serie A this season, they are in 2nd place with 7 wins in 7 games, but they have a game less than Milan. Offensively, Napoli was excellent with 18 scored goals, but their defense has been even better with only 3 conceded goals. In the Europa League, Napoli has 1 draw and 1 loss, but they still have time to get back on the winning track. In their last Serie A game just before the international break, Napoli was playing against Fiorentina on the road, and they have had 46% of ball possession, 6 shots on goal, 2 corner kicks, 3 big chances created, and 81% of the correct passes. Napoli was losing 1-0, but they were winning by the 50th minute, and they have won this match 1-2. Osimhen has been excellent for Napoli so far, and he is their leading goalscorer with 4 goals. Insigne has added 2 goals and 3 assists. Malcuit, Petagna, and Ounas are all injured. Napoli must keep doing what they are doing, and they are good enough to keep winning games for a long time.
Torino has lost only 1 of their last 5 games, but all the injuries are really messing up their game. Torino isn’t the best attacking team, and that is ok because their defense has been solid with only 7 conceded goals. With 8 points from 7 games, Torino is now in 11th place. Praet, Pjaca, and Verdi are injured, while Pobega and Rodriguez are still questionable. The good news is Belotti is ready to play, and that will certainly help this team win more games. In their last game against Juventus at home, Torino has had 47% of ball possession, 2 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, 1 big chance created, and 77% of the correct passes. Torino was defending well, they have created a few good chances, but they lost focus at the end of this game, and they lost this match 0-1. For a few seasons now, Torino was struggling, they were barely staying outside the relegation zone, but I think this season will be better for them, and I would even dare to say they will be competing for the Europa League.
Napoli is excellent, on both ends, they are in great form, and they have a lot of offensive talent. Torino is not a bad team, and I wouldn’t put it past them to surprise us here, but as long as Napoli is playing this well, I gotta stick with them.
