Newcastle United and West Ham United face off on Sunday in their first English Premier League game of the season at St. James Park.. Newcastle has won four of the last five games against West Ham United. The other game ended in a draw. 

West Ham United had quite the year last season finishing in sixth place in the Premier League. West Ham United is pretty healthy coming into this game but Manuel Lanzini and Angelo Ogbonna are expected to miss this game with an injury. West Ham United was very busy coming into this game playing seven exhibition games. West Ham has won the last four games including the last game against Atalanta. West Ham scored two goals and that was enough to come away with the victory. In this game, if West Ham wants to get the victory, they are going to need to be the team that scores the first goal. 

On the other side of this matchup is Newcastle United who finished in 12th place in the standings. One of the big signings for Newcastle United this offseason was Joseph Willock but he won’t be available for this game. Martin Dubravka, Paul Dummett, and Karl Darlow are also dealing with injuries. Newcastle played five games heading into the season and they have won each of the last two games. In the last game against Norwich City, the offense was strong scoring three goals and that led to the easy victory. 

West Ham United is the better team and they are going to get the goal-scoring early. I don’t think Newcastle United is going to score a goal, and West Ham is going to come away with the victory.
