Portugal and Uruguay face off on Monday in a World Cup Group H soccer showdown at Lusail Stadium. 

Portugal comes into this game sitting in 1st place in the group having picked up three points. Portugal opened up their World Cup with a 3-2 victory over Ghana. Cristiano Ronaldo opened up the scoring in the 65th minute. The team also added two goals in the 78th and 80th minutes. Portugal had 62 percent of the possession and five shots on target. The offense was quite impressive, but there have to be some real concerns about the way the defense looked and the two goals they gave up late. William Carvalho looked good in the second half coming off the bench in the last game, and it seems they could move him into the starting lineup in this game. Rafael Leao is expected to come off the bench again in this game. 

Uruguay comes into this game sitting in 3rd place in the group, having picked up one point. In the first game of the World Cup, against South Korea, the game ended in a 0-0 draw. Uruguay finished with 57 percent of the possession, but they only had one shot on target. In this game, Uruguay is going to need to get the offense going, or it’s going to be a very long game. Ronald Araujo is still recovering from injury, and it’s expected that he’s not going to be able to play again in this game. Suarez is also expected to start in this game, and they are going to need to have a big game here. Uruguay might be worried about pushing numbers forward, but they need to find a way to get more scoring chances here. 

Portugal is going to find success in this game. The defense wasn’t great in the first game, but the offense was, and they are going to find offensive success again here.
