PSG is hosting Stade de Reims at Parc des Princes in round 22 of the French Ligue 1. PSG has played well in their last game, they kept a clean sheet, and for this game, PSG is getting Messi back. Reims is an average Ligue 1 team, and that is putting it generously, but they will stay outside the relegation zone.
PSG has been outstanding so far this season, especially at home where they are undefeated in their last 19 homes games. With 50 points, PSG is at the top of the table where they will stay until the end of the season. Offensively, PSG is doing a solid job, but they could score even more goals, a lot more. Defensively, as bad as it may look, PSG is decent with 18 conceded goals in 21 games. As I’ve mentioned, PSG has kept a clean sheet in their last game against Brest, but they have scored only 2 goals. Mbappe is still leading PSG with 11 goals and 9 assists, while Messi added 4 assists. Neymar, Letellier, and Wijnaldum are injured, Mbappe is questionable, while Hakimi, Gueye, and Diallo are still in the African Cup of Nations. PSG is dominant in Ligue 1, but their goal is the win the Champions League, and I don’t think they can do that this season.
Reims was in solid form, and in a way, they still are, but they lost their last game to Metz in Ligue 1. Thanks to their positive streak before this loss, Reims has escaped the relegation zone, and they are now in 14th place with 24 points. Offensively, Reims is not good, but their defense is solid. Reims has conceded only 23 goals so far this season. there are quite a few players missing for Reims, and that will certainly make their life harder in this game. Ekitike has scored 8 goals for Reims so far this season. the schedule is never easy for Reims, but luckily for them, a lot of teams are worse than them this season, especially on the defensive end, and that is what is gonna keep Reims in the French top flight.
As I’ve mentioned, PSG has been outstanding at home, they are dominant in this matchup, and with Messi back, Reims will suffer. It’s still unknown if Mbappe will play, but I think it’s likely he will. Messi and Mbappe have good chemistry, and I think they will have another good game here.
