RB Leipzig is hosting Borussia Dortmund at Red Bull Arena in round 11 of the German Bundesliga. Leipzig has had a great game against PSG in the Champions League earlier this week, but now it’s time to show that in Bundesliga as well. Borussia is keeping up with Bayern so far, but they will be missing Haaland for a while longer, and that could be a problem.
Leipzig is now undefeated in their last 6 Bundesliga games, and they are slowly climbing the standings. With 15 points, Leipzig is now in 8th place, and they have been looking a lot better on both ends. In that game against PSG earlier this week, Leipzig was dominant with 54% of ball possession, 6 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, 4 big chances created, and 83% of the correct passes. After Leipzig got ahead in the 8th minute, they were awarded a penalty kick in the 12th minute, but Andre Silva missed. By halftime, PSG has scored 2 goals, and they were now ahead. In the 92nd minute, Leipzig was awarded another penalty kick, and this time they scored. The final score was 2-2. The biggest problem for Leipzig is inconsistency in the attacking end, and their leading goalscorers are Forsberg and Nkunku with 4 goals each. The injury list is getting shorter for Leipzig, and that will certainly help them. There is a lot of good stuff in this Leipzig team, but their biggest issue is that they are very inconsistent, and their form is shaky, and they can’t win the title that way.
Borussia Dortmund also has a lot of injures, and I mean a lot, which is a huge problem for this team. Even without Haaland, Borussia was able to keep up with Bayern, but I don’t think that can last for long. Borussia was hosting Ajax earlier this week in the Champions League, and they have had 30% of ball possession, 4 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, 2 big chances created, and 72% of the correct passes. Hummels has conceded a red card in the 29th minute, which never should have been the red card, but they did score a goal in the 37th minute from the penalty spot. Unfortunately for Borussia, they just couldn’t compete with Ajax in the second half, and they lost this game 1-3. As far as Bundesliga goes, Borussia has been in solid form, they are in second place, but they will need a lot more offensive output now that Haaland is injured. Leipzig hasn’t won any of their last 4 games against Borussia, but this time, I gotta go with Leipzig at home. Leipzig is in slightly better form, they have had a better week in the Champions League, and they have a lot fewer injuries.
