RB Leipzig is hosting Club Brugge at Red Bull Arena in round 2 of Group A of the UEFA Champions League. Leipzig has been very inconsistent this season, but every now and then they are able to win a game. Brugge has been in outstanding form so far this season, and they have lost only 1 game so far.
As I’ve mentioned, Leipzig manages to win a game every now and then, and that is what happen in Bundesliga this past weekend. Leipzig was hosting Hertha in their last game, and they were a much better team with 61% of ball possession, 10 shots on goal, 2 corner kicks, 8 big chances created, and 86% of the correct passes. This was finally a game where Leipzig has shown what they are capable of, and they have won this game 6-0, but this win doesn’t mean anything unless they can keep doing it. Leipzig has scored 3 goals in the Champions League so far, but they have lost their first game against Manchester City. Nkunku has scored a hat-trick in this game. Leipzig is a good team with a bad coach, and that is something I hope will change soon, otherwise, Leipzig can say goodbye to the Champions League, the Europa League, and Bundesliga title.
Club Brugge is the best team in Belgium, they have scored 17 goals, conceded 12 goals, and they are at the top of the table with 18 points. As we can see, Brugge’s defense is not the best, and 12 conceded goals for the best team in the league is never a good thing. In their game against PSG at home in round 1, Brugge was able to keep PSG at bay even though they have had only 36% of ball possession, 7 shots on goal, 6 corner kicks, 1 big chance created, and 81% of the correct passes. We saw 1 goal on each side in the first half, and the result hasn’t changed after that. Vanaken is now the only goalscorer for Club Brugge in the Champions League. Club Brugge is a good team but are they good enough is the question. I know Brugge was able to stop PSG in that game, but I’m not sure they can repeat that defensive performance twice in a row.
Leipzig is a big favorite in this game for some reason, but they definitely shouldn’t be. Club Brugge is a good team, and they can score a ton of goals, especially against the sloppy defense as Leipzig’s. I will take the goals on both sides
