RB Leipzig is hosting Wolfsburg at Red Bull Arena in round 20 of the German Bundesliga. Leipzig is finally finding their footing, and they have gotten their first win on the road last weekend. Wolfsburg hasn’t won a game since November, they are struggling on both ends, they are not looking good right now.
Leipzig is now on a 3-game winning streak, they have conceded only 1 goal during that stretch, while they scored 8 goals. As I’ve mentioned, Leipzig has beaten Stuttgart last weekend on the road for their first away win of the season, and earlier this week, they have won their DFB Pokal game. More great news for Leipzig is that they are getting some of their much-needed players back from the injury list, and that will certainly help them try to get back in the top 4. Leipzig is now in 7th place with 28 points, 36 scored goals, and 23 conceded goals. Nkunku is still the leading goalscorer for Leipzig with 9 goals and 7 assists. There are still quite a few injured players in Leipzig, but those few they got back will be a huge help. Leipzig has the quality to compete for the top 4, but a series of unfortunate events has gotten them where they are, but they will get back.
If Leipzig was unlucky, I don’t know what to say about Wolfsburg who started the season with 5 wins and then disappeared. At the moment, Wolfsburg is in 15th place with 21 points, only 17 scored goals, and 30 conceded goals. I really can’t decipher what is wrong with Wolfsburg, they have a solid team, they changed coach a couple of times already this season, but it’s just not working out for them right now. Wolfsburg was expected to fight for the Champions League spot this season, instead, they will be fighting to stay in the league. Nmecha is the leading goalscorer for Wolfsburg with 6 goals, but he will probably miss this game because of an injury. Weghorst has also added 6 goals. Schlager, Otavio, and William are also injured. Wolfsburg has to do something to get back on track, they desperately need points, and I think they might get some because their schedule is gonna be a lot easier over the next few weeks.
When playing at home, Leipzig has not lost to Wolfsburg in their last 7 games, and Leipzig has had their best games played at home this season. Leipzig is also on a 3-game winning streak. There is a lot of problem in Wolfsburg, and I think they will have a bad game here.
