Real Betis is hosting Athletic Bilbao at Benito Villamarin in round 28 of the Spanish LaLiga. Betis is once again struggling, they are not scoring goals, and they have dropped to 5th place in LaLiga. Bilbao has been hot and cold lately, but they were able to win their last game against Levante at home.
Betis is now without a win in their last 5 games, they have conceded at least 1 goal in their last 4 games, while they have scored only 1 goal in each of their last 4 games. Overall, Betis’ form is shaky, and they have jeopardized their entire season because of it. In the Europa League, Betis was playing against Eintracht at home earlier this week, and they ended up losing that game 1-2. In LaLiga, Juanmi is the leading goalscorer for Betis with 12 goals, while Iglesias has added 7 goals. Canales and Fekir have added 5 assists each. Betis has some tough games ahead, and they are playing in the second leg in the Europa League next week on the road, but the question is if they want to give it their all in that competition or would they rather focus on LaLiga.
Bilbao has won only 2 of their last 5 games, while they have lost the other 3 games. With 40 points, Bilbao is in solid 8th place, but unless they can win some more games, they might start sinking soon. The good news for Bilbao is they are playing only in LaLiga for the rest of the season, and that will give them a chance to focus only on that. Williams has scored 7 goals for Bilbao, and he is their leading goalscorer, while Sancet has added 6 goals. Muniain has added 7 assists. Defensively, not many teams are better than Bilbao and their 26 conceded goals this season, but their offense needs work because they have scored only 32 goals in 27 games. I know Bilbao has the quality to get to that Europa League spot, and they are not far from it, but their offense might not allow them to get there this season.
Betis is not in good form, and they are now playing against one of the best defenses in the league, and this will be a tough game for them. Bilbao has lost their last 3 away games in a row, but Betis hasn’t won any of their last 4 games in a row. I think this will be a pretty even matchup, and I don’t think we will see many goals here.
