Real Betis and Villarreal are clashing at Benito Villamarin in round 23 of the Spanish LaLiga. Betis is on fire right now, they are on a 4-game winning streak, and they just destroyed Sociedad in Copa del Rey. Villarreal is also playing really well as of late, they are scoring more goals, and they have improved defensively.
Betis is now in 3rd place with 40 points, which is 7 points less than Sevilla and 10 points less than Real Madrid, but with a bit of luck, they could get even closer. In the attacking end, Betis has scored 41 goals so far, and their offense hasn’t been bad either with 25 conceded goals. Just in their last 3 games, Betis has scored 12 goals, while they conceded only 1 goal, but now it’s time to keep that great streak alive. Juanmi is the leading goalscorer for Betis with 12 goals, while Fekir has added 5 assists. Montoya, Camarasa, Joaquin, and Bravo are all injured. Betis is a nice combination of youth and experience, they are solid on both ends, and if they played this way since the start, or at least started playing this well a bit earlier, they would have been even close to Real and Sevilla.
Villarreal is showing us what they can do, and I don’t think that even this is their best. With 36 scored goals, 23 conceded goals, and 32 points, Villarreal is now in 7th place, and they are getting ready for their Champions League clash against Juventus. in their last 3 games, Villarreal has 1 loss, 1 draw, and 1 win, but their offense was in a mini-slump during that stretch. Gerard Moreno has been playing quite well for Villarreal this season with 8 goals, while Danjuma and Trigueros have added 5 goals each. Dani Parejo has been crucial in creating chances this season, and he has added 6 assists. Coquelin, Pena, and Dia are injured, while Moreno is questionable, but he will most likely be in the lineup. Villarreal has a few tough games ahead, starting with this one, then Real Madrid, then Granada, and then a big matchup in the Champions League. I think Villarreal has proved they can score a lot, they can defend well, and I don’t think they have any reason to be scared of anyone, especially Juventus.
Villarreal hasn’t been the greatest on the road this season, and now they need to face this Betis team who is on fire, on both ends. This will be a hard game for Villarreal, but it will be a bit easier if Moreno will be in the lineup. I expect goals in this one.
