Real Madrid hosting Espanyol at Santiago Bernabeu in round 34 of the Spanish LaLiga. Real Madrid has lost to Manchester City in the Champions League, but they are at the top of LaLiga, and they will win the title this season. Espanyol is not in good form right now, but they are far away from the relegation zone, and this season was a success for them.
Real Madrid is on a 4-game winning streak in LaLiga, and even though they lost in the Champions League, they got a good result. The final score was 4-3 in favor of Manchester City, but it could have been a lot worse. In LaLiga, Real Madrid is at the top, they need only 1 point to secure the title, but even a loss could go their way if Sevilla and Barcelona don’t win their games. Benzema of course is the leading goalscorer for Real Madrid with 2 goals, but I suspect he might get a break here because they are playing in the Champions League again next week. A few players are injured for Real Madrid, but they have been injured for a while or they haven’t played a lot this season. Overall, a very good season for Real Madrid, and even if they get knocked out of the Champions League, they will win a trophy this season, the LaLiga one.
Espanyol has 3 losses in their last 4 games, but the good news is they will be staying in the league for at least another season. Espanyol is now in 13th place with 39 points, and overall, their season has been a success. Espanyol might have not scored a lot of goals, 37 in 33 games so far, but their defense was decent with 45 conceded goals, and as a newcomer, that is not bad at all. Espanyol has been hot and cold this season, which was expected, but they have enough to stay in LaLiga, which was their only goal this season. Regano is the only injured player for Espanyol at the moment. De Tomas is Espanyol’s leading goalscorer with 15 goals, while Darder has added 8 assists. There isn’t much to say about Espanyol, except if they want to do something more in LaLiga next season, they will need to have more offense, but if the bottom half of the table is enough for them, they are good as is.
The trends are heavily on Real’s side, and they have lost only 1 home game this season. Espanyol has only 1 win on the road, and they are not doing well at the moment. I’m going with Real Madrid in this one.
