Sassuolo is hosting Inter at Mapei Stadium in round 7 of the Italian Serie A. Sassuolo is a tough team, but they are struggling in the attacking end, and it will cost them. Inter is the best offensive team in Italy, but they are having trouble in the Champions League.

Sassuolo has won only 1 game in Serie A so far this season, and they already have 4 losses, and I know it doesn’t seem right, but Sassuolo’s defense has been solid so far. In their last game against Salernitana at home, Sassuolo has been the better team with 58% of ball possession, 6 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, 1 big chance created, and 84% of the correct passes. Sassuolo has had a great game, they have created a ton of chances, and their defense has been quite good. Sassuolo has scored a goal in the 54th minute, and that was enough for a 1-0 win. Berardi and Djuricic have each scored 2 goals for Sassuolo so far this season, and they are both expected to be in the starting lineup for this game. In the previous seasons, Sassuolo has been an attacking force, but that has disappeared from this team, and they are barely scoring goals now. Of course, all of this can change fast, but I’m not sure it can change much for Sassuolo.

As I’ve mentioned, Inter is the best attacking team in the league, and they have scored 20 goals in 6 games, but they just can’t win a game in the Champions League. Inter has lost to Real Madrid in round 1, while they tied the game against Shakhtar Donetsk earlier this week. In Serie A, Inter is in 3rd place with 14 points, and they are still undefeated so far this season. Dzeko is the leading goalscorer for Inter with 5 goals, while Martinez added 4 goals. Barella has been in excellent assisting form, and he has 5 assists. Sensi is the only injured player in Sassuolo at this time. In that game against Shakhtar, Inter has had only 34% of ball possession, 2 shots on goal, 5 corner kicks, 1 big chance created, and 81% of the correct passes. This was easily the worst game of the season so far for Inter, and it ended in a 0-0 draw. Inter in Serie A and Inter in the Champions League are two completely different teams, and they better sort that out soon if they want to advance past the group stage.

As I said, Sassuolo is barely scoring goals, and they are now facing the best offensive team in the league. The trends are split here but Inter hasn’t lost in their last 6 games on the road, and they are the better team here. I will take Inter on the road.
