Sevilla and Villarreal are clashing at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in round 16 of the Spanish LaLiga. Sevilla is in great form, they are one of the top teams in LaLiga, and they need a Champions League next week. Villarreal is inconsistent in LaLiga so far this season, but they still have a chance at advancing to the next stage in the Champions League.
Sevilla is playing great in the attacking end, they have scored 24 goals so far, but they have also been outstanding on the defensive end. Sevilla has conceded only 11 goals so far this season, and they are the best defensive team in the league. In the Champions League, Sevilla is now in 3rd place with 6 points, and if they win next week, they will be going to the next stage. Sevilla was playing against Real Madrid in their last game, and they were solid with 47% of ball possession, 6 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, 3 big chances created, and 89% of the correct passes. Sevilla got ahead in the 12th minute, but they conceded 2 goals after that, and they ended up losing this game 2-1. Like I said, an important game is ahead of Sevilla, and it’s on the road, but I think Sevilla is a great team who can beat anyone, and they can beat Red Bull Salzburg.
Villarreal is in low 12th place with 16 points, 16 scored goals, and 16 conceded goals, and they just can’t get out of the hole they are in. Villarreal was playing in the Copa del Rey earlier this week, and they have won 0-8. In their last LaLiga game against Barcelona at home, Villarreal was a threat with 50% of ball possession, 2 shots on goal, 4 corner kicks, 2 big chances created, and 83% of the correct passes. The first half of this game was exciting, but we didn’t see any goals, the second half however was absolutely fantastic. Barcelona got ahead, but Villarreal tied the score in the 76th minute. After a terrible mistake in the 88th minute, and after they conceded a penalty kick in the 94th minute, Villarreal has conceded 2 more goals, and they ended up losing this game 1-3. Villarreal also has an important game in the Champions League next week, and they need at least a point to qualify, but they are playing against Atalanta on the road, and that will be tough.
Sevilla is still undefeated at home, while Villarreal is still without a win on the road. I have a feeling this will be an uneventful game, I don’t see goals, and I will take the draw.
