Southampton vs. Manchester United 8/27/22 EPL Soccer Picks, Predictions, Odds

Southampton FC and Manchester United face off on Saturday in an English Premier League showdown at St. Mary’s Stadium. When these two teams faced off in February 12th the two teams played to a 1-1 draw.

Southampton currently sits in 11th place in the standings, having picked up four points so far this season. After losing the first game of the season against Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton has picked up four points over the last two games. In the last game against Leicester City, Southampton fell behind in the 54th minute, but Che Adams scored goals in the 68th and 84th minute, to secure the victory. Southampton also played on Tuesday in the EFL Cup, and they were able to beat Cambridge United 3-0. Defender Romain Perraud is back in training and is expected to be available for this game. 

On the other side of this matchup is Manchester United, and they sit in 14th place having picked up three points. Manchester United has to be very frustrated with the way they have played so far this season. Manchester United has lost to Brighton and Brentford so far this season. In the game against Brentford, the defense gave up four goals. In the last game against Liverpool, Manchester United scored two goals and was able to secure the victory. Jadon Sancho scored a goal in the 16th minute and Marcus Rashford scored another goal in the 53rd minute. Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Maguire were not in the lineup in the last game, and they will probably be subs again in this game. Anthony Martial came off the bench in the last game and was impressive, and it looks like he could be moved into the starting lineup for this game. 

For as bad as Manchester United looked in the first two games, they looked that impressive in the last game, and I expect they are going to continue the success here. Southampton’s defense gave up four goals in the first game against Tottenham, and I expect the defense is going to struggle here. Look for Manchester United to score two or three goals here, and they will secure the victory.
