Uruguay vs. Argentina 11/12/21 CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifications Soccer Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Uruguay and Argentina face off in a CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifier at  Campeón del Siglo stadium. When these two teams faced off in October it was Argentina that came away with the 3-0 victory. 

Uruguay currently sits in 5th place in the standings having picked up 16 points. Uruguay has played a tough stretch of soccer and in the last game against Brazil they didn’t look good. They gave up a goal in the 10th minute to Neymar and the offense never improved. Luis Suarez did score a goal in the 77th minute, but by then it was way too late. This seems like a team that can beat up on lower competition, but they still aren’t a team that can play with the likes of Brazil and Argentina, but they are hoping to change that in this game. If they want any chance to win this game, the defense is going to need to be better. 

On the other side of this matchup is Argentina who sits in second place having picked up 25 points. Argentina at times has inconsistency with the offense, but the defense has been lights out. In each of the last four games Argentina hasn’t given up a goal. In the last game against Peru it was Lautaro Martinez that scored the goal in the 43rd minute to seal the 1-0 victory. In this game it’s going to again about the defense stepping up, and making life tough on the Uruguay offense. 

Argentina’s defense is elite and their defense is going to make life tough on the Uruguay offense. I don’t really love betting on Argentina to win, but the total is a strong play. Look for this game to be very low scoring and for the under to cash.
