Venezuela vs. Argentina 9/2/21 CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifications Soccer Pick, Odds, and Prediction

Venezuela and Argentina face off in match 7 of the CONMEBOL South American World Cup Qualifiers at the Pueblo Nuevo Sports Center. These two teams last faced off in 2019 and it was Argentina that were able to come away with the 2-0 victory. 

Venezuela hasn’t found a whole lot of success in these qualifiers winning only one of the six games and sitting with only four points. Venezuela’s last action was in the Copa America and they struggled during the group stage. Venezuela played to two draws, and also lost two of the games. In the last game against Peru the offense couldn’t get anything going putting only three shots on target. Two games ago against Ecuador, Venezuela was able to play to a 2-2 draw, but even that game took a goal in the 91st minute to even make that happen. The offense for Venezuela isn’t very high scoring, but if they want any chance in this game, the defense is going to need to be a whole lot better or this game could get out of hand early. 

On the other side of this matchup is Argentina who are still one of the best teams in soccer, and in their last game, they took home the Copa America Final against Brazil. Angel Di Maria scored a goal in the 22nd minute, Argentina only had three shots on goal in that game, but they were facing a strong defense in Brazil. Even though Argentina won the Copa America they also had to go to penalty kicks against Colombia in the semi-finals. Argentina usually has a strong defense, but in this game all eyes are going to be on the offense as they try to make the statement that this is still a strong offense.

These two teams are on different levels, and Argentina will be winning by multiple goals because of the offense. Look for Argentina to cover the -1.5, but I will also be throwing a few dollars on Argentina -2.5.
