Villarreal is hosting Deportivo Alaves at Estadio de la Ceramica in a postponed match of round 4 in the Spanish LaLiga. Villarreal is on fire right now, they are scoring a lot of goals, and they are winning games. Alaves has had a good period a while ago, but they are back to being their old selves, and back to losing games.
Villarreal is now on a 4-game winning streak, and 2 of those games were in LaLiga, however, Villarreal still has a lot of work to do. With 22 points, Villarreal is now in 11th place, and they are getting back in the Europa League race. Moreno has gotten back from his injury, and he has been Villarreal’s best player in their last few games. With 5 goals, Danjuma is the leading goalscorer for Villarreal, while Moreno has 4 goals. Dani Parejo has added 4 assists. The good news for Villarreal is they don’t have any more injures, a few players are questionable, but their starting lineup is covered. Villarreal finally looks like a team they can be, and they can do even more, and I think they will after this winter break.
Alaves now hasn’t won any of their last 4 games, while they lost 3 of those 4 games. During this negative streak, Alaves has conceded 7 goals while scoring only 3, and they are once again struggling in the attacking end. Joselu is the leading goalscorer for Alaves with 8 goals, and he is expected to be in the starting lineup. Alaves was playing against Rayo Vallecano in their last game, and they were a massive underdog in that game, and deservedly so. Vallecano was in total control of that match, and they have won that game 2-0. Alaves is not scoring a lot this season, only 13 goals in 17 games, but their defense has been decent with 24 conceded goals. Deportivo is now in 18th place with 15 points, which is the relegation zone spot. The good news for Alaves is they are not the worst team in the league, and they still have time to get out of the relegation zone, but it will require a lot of work on their part.
If this game was happening a month ago when Villarreal was still struggling, I would have given a look to Alaves, but in this situation, there is no way. Villarreal is in much better form right now, they are scoring goals and they are winning games, and they will be getting my money here.
