Villarreal is hosting Espanyol at Estadio de la Ceramica in round 26 of the Spanish LaLiga. Villarreal has tied with Juventus in the Champions League earlier this week, but if I’m honest, they deserved more in that game. Espanyol has a lot of draws lately, but I suppose that is better than a loss.
Villarreal is undefeated in their last 5 games, and as I’ve mentioned, their game in the Champions League has ended in a 1-1 draw. with 39 points, Villarreal is now in 6th place in the LaLiga standings, they have scored 42 goals so far this season, while their defense has been brilliant with 24 conceded goals in 25 games. Moreno and Danjuma have each scored 8 goals for Villarreal so far this season, while Parejo has added 6 assists. Coquelin, Pena, Moreno, and Alcacer are all injured, and they will all miss this game. Villarreal is playing well right now, and we know they can do even better than this, but what I hope for the most s for Villarreal to advance past Juventus in the Champions League. Let’s go, Villarreal!
Espanyol hasn’t won any of their last 7 games, but the good news is they haven’t lost in their last 2 games. Another good news for Espanyol is they have tied in their last two games to two strong teams, Barcelona and Sevilla. With 29 points, Espanyol is in 13th place, and that is far from the relegation zone. Offensively, Espanyol is decent with 30 scored goals, while their defense is also decent with 35 conceded goals. De Tomas is the leading goalscorer for Espanyol with 13 goals, but apart from him, there is pretty much no other source of goals for Espanyol. Lopez is injured, Morlanes is suspended because of the yellow cards, while Vidal is suspended because of the red card. There is no easy game for Espanyol, and they are still close to the relegation zone, which means Espanyol has to be careful or they might ruin their season.
Espanyol has only 1 win on the road this season, and I don’t think they will get the second one here. Villarreal has a few injuries, but they are still a great team with a lot of talent. Villarreal can score a lot of goals, and I think they will score at least two goals here, while also getting a win.
