Villarreal and Sevilla are clashing at Estadio de la Ceramica in round 35 of the Spanish LaLiga. Villarreal was solid in that Champions League match, at least in the first half, but they still got knocked out. Sevilla is still in 3rd place, and they will probably stay there, which means they will qualify for the Champions League.
Unfortunately for Villarreal, they have caught a bad form at the wrong time, and I’m not gonna say it cost them the Champions League finals, but it sure made it easier for Liverpool to beat them. In LaLiga, Villarreal is now in 7th place with 52 points, but they could still reach that Europa League spot if they can snap that streak. There are a couple of injuries in Villarreal, and one of them is Gerard Moreno who just can’t fully recover. Danjuma is the leading goalscorer for Villarreal with 10 goals, while Moreno has added 9 goals. Overall, Villarreal has had a very successful season in Europe, but now they need to focus on LaLiga in their last few games of the season, and I think they are good enough to qualify for Europe.
Sevilla has been all over the place lately, and they have only 2 wins in their last 8 games. With 64 points, Sevilla is still in 3rd place, and they are still the best defensive team in the league with 28 conceded goals. Offensively, Sevilla has stopped producing chances for a while there, and that probably cost them the second place, or maybe even the title. Mir is the leading goalscorer for Sevilla with only 9 goals, and they really need a player capable of scoring at least 15 goals per season. Rakitic has added 6 assists. Sevilla has always had some injuries this season, they were never fully healthy, but they have done well regardless. Sevilla still has to play against Atletico Madrid, Bilbao, and Mallorca after this season, but I think they can expect some points in those games, and with that, I think Sevilla will qualify for the Champions League next season.
When playing at home, Villarreal hasn’t lost to Sevilla in their last 3 games, and they have lost only 2 home games this season. Sevilla has been solid on the road, but their current form is not great. I think this will be a tight game, but I give the slight advantage to Sevilla because Villarreal might be a bit tired. I will give it a shot with Sevilla on the road.
