West Ham United and Newcastle United face off on Saturday in an English Premier League showdown at London Stadium. When these two teams faced off in August of 2021 it was West Ham that won 4-2. 

West Ham currently sits in 5th place in the standings having picked up 41 points. Even though West Ham has played well this season they can’t be happy with the way they played in the last game. Against Leicester City, West Ham gave up two goals, and that only allowed them to only pick up one point. It was a goal in the 91st minute that allowed them to pick up the one point. West Ham has scored 44 goals this year while the defense has given up 33 goals. Jarrod Bowen has been the top player for West Ham scoring eight goals and adding eight assists. Michael Antonio has also been good, scoring eight goals and adding five assists. 

On the other side of this matchup is Newcastle who currently sits in 17th place in the standings having picked up 21 points. Newcastle hasn’t had the best season but they are playing better as of late winning three games in a row. Over the last three games, Newcastle has given up only one goal. In the last game, Newcastle only had 37 percent of the possession and two shots on target, but that was enough to secure the goal victory. Newcastle has scored 25 goals while their defense has given up 44 goals total. Callum WIlson has been the top player for Newcastle scoring six goals. In this game, Newcastle needs the defense to be good. 

Newcastle has found defensive success as of late, and they will really focus on slowing down the offense of West Ham. I don’t think West Ham is going to have many quality scoring chances, and this game is going to be lower scoring. Back the under to cash.
