Wolves vs. Southampton 9/3/22 EPL Soccer Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Wolves and Southampton face off on Saturday in an English Premier League showdown at Molineux Stadium. When these two teams faced off on January 15th it was the Wolves that secured the 3-1 victory.

Southampton put up two goals against Chelsea, and that was enough to secure the 2-1 victory. The two goals were scored in the first half, and the defense held on in the second half to pick up the three points. Southampton has scored seven goals this season, while their defense has given up nine goals. Southampton is averaging 1.4 goals per game, while their defense is giving up 0.8 goals per game. Romeo Lavia suffered an injury in the last game against Chelsea and is expected to be out at least a couple of weeks. 

On the other side of this matchup is the Wolves, and they sit in 18th place in the standings having picked up three points. The Wolverhampton Wanderers are still a team that likes to play strong defense, and their offense still isn’t very good. In the last game against Bournemouth, the defense was good, but the offense again couldn’t get anything going and that led to the 0-0 draw. Two games ago against Newcastle, the offense scored one goal and that led to the 1-1 draw. Sasa Kalajdzic is expected to play in this game for the Wolves, but it could be off the bench. 

The Wolves are a defense-first team, but their offense has also been an issue, and I expect that is going to be the case again here. The Wolves aren’t going to score a goal, so it’s only going to take Southampton one goal to get the job done. Southampton is going to find that one goal, and it will be enough to secure the win.
