Day two of the 2021 Qatar Open WTA event is here and we have some interesting matches to preview. The matches are scheduled to take place on Tuesday March 3rd, 2021.

Angelique Kerber vs Annet Kontaveit – Former number one Angelique Kerber of Germany faces Estonian Annet Kontaveit in the Round of 16. Kerber is not the player she once was as evidenced by her middling results over the past few years. Kontaveit on the other hand is an up and coming star that has been in great form lately, dismantling Australian Open Runner-Up Jennifer Brady in the First Round for the loss of only three games. Expect a similar result here.

Pick – Annet Kontaveit to win in straight sets

Saisai Zheng vs Amanda Anisimova – This should be an interesting match between two players who have not been at their best lately and aiming to get their careers back on track. This will be teenage phenom Anisimova’s first WTA match of the year and she will be rearing to go. Expect a tight battle with the youngster having just too much quality for her opponent despite the obvious rust.

Pick – Amanda Anisimova to win

Ons Jabeur vs Anna Blinkova – This is a potential blockbuster between Tunisian Jabeur and Anna Blinkova of Russia. They have contrasting styles with Blinkova being a sometimes erratic power hitter and Jabeur being a very steady baseliner that varies her game style and the pace. Blinkova is a very hot and cold player with bags of talent but this is not a great matchup for her here. Expect the experienced Tunisian to outfox the young Russian in two tight sets.

Pick – Ons Jabeur to win

Elena Rybakina vs Laura Siegemund – Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan faces German Laura Siegemund in a potentially tricky Round of 16 match. Rybakina is ranked #23 in the world and will be seeking to jump back into the top 20 with a strong performance here in Doha. Siegemund is a former top 30 player that has not been at her best in recent years but remains a solid player. Expect Rybakina to win without too much trouble.

Pick – Elena Rybakina to win in straight sets
