Federico Delbonis, Alex Molcan

Eighth seeded Federico Delbonis of Argentina will face unseeded Slovakian Alex Molcan in the Semi-Finals of the 2021 Belgrade Open. The match is scheduled to be played on Friday May 28th, 2021 at approximately 9:20am EST.
Federico Delbonis is currently ranked #52 in the ATP world rankings, and has been having an outstanding season so far in 2021. The left handed Argentine has particularly excelled in the clay court tournaments, with an outstanding 22-8 record in ATP and Challenger events combined. He is much more experienced than his opponent Alex Molcan and will be very confident of reaching his first ATP Final of the season. The Argentine received some much-needed rest when his Quarter-Final opponent Roberto Carballes Baena withdrew due to injury, which allowed him to recuperate after back to back three set matches.
Alex Molcan has been quite the surprise package here at the 2021 Belgrade Open, reaching his first ATP Semi-Final after coming through the Qualifying Rounds. He has been surprisingly dominant in the main draw, cruising to victory in each of his three matches in three sets. His 6-0, 6-2 demolition of veteran Fernando Verdasco was particularly impressive, and his confidence will be at an all time high. The youngster is ranked over 200 spots below his opponent Federico Delbonis, but has to be given a chance after such an outstanding week.
This is a tough match to call, and could end up being a thriller. Federico Delbonis is the safe pick due to his immense experience, but Alex Molcan has been simply outstanding this week and has been playing some dominant tennis. Despite this, I am going with the veteran Delbonis to get the win. His experience will be crucial here and I expect him to get the hard fought victory, advancing to the Final here at the 2021 Belgrade Open.
