Filip Krajinovic vs Radu Albot
July 22, 2021 12:00 pm EDT
Filip Krajinovic (3) meets Radu Albot in the second round of the 2021 Croatia Open on Thursday, July 22nd, 2021.
Will Radu Albot be able to beat a very in form Filip Krajinovic as he aims to go far here at the Croatia Open, or will Filip Krajinovic be able to keep this momentum going in Croatia as he aims to show us that last week was not just a lucky week in Hamburg?
Radu Albot came through a very entertaining match in the first round, beating the very good opponent Holger Rune in 3 sets, 1-6/6-3/6-2. It was a very good match to watch between these two players, but Radu Albot was able to come out with the goods this time. Albot is definitely very tough to beat when he is at his best, and we know there are still more levels he can reach when it comes to his best tennis. Radu will want to give it his all in this second round match now, but he will have to ensure that he keeps the pressure on Krajinovic all throughout the match.
Filip Krajinovic will want to keep this momentum going as he is in the best form he has been in a long time. Filip is a very tough player to beat on his day, but he has not won a title yet throughout his long career. Krajinovic will know that last week he was able to beat some of the best players in the world and he showed us that he can win titles even if he lost in Hamburg. Krajinovic will be looking at the draw here in Croatia and he will know that if he plays like he did last week, he can definitely win the title here, but he needs to focus on Radu Albot who can definitely cause an upset.

This is going to be the 3rd meeting between both players, and I expect for it to be a tight one as they have both won a match against each other. Filip Krajinovic has been playing very well all of last week, but obviously he has had to travel quickly to Croatia and he needs to get used to the conditions here. This will give Albot, who has been here slightly longer, an advantage in some areas so he will believe that he can get something going. I see this being a 3-setter, with the first set being quite tight. But as the match goes on, and Krajinovic get used to the conditions, I expect him to win this tight encounter.
