US Open: Bianca Andreescu vs. Viktorija Golubic 8/31/21 Tennis Prediction

Bianca Andreescu meets Viktorija Golubic in the first round of the 2021 US Open on Tuesday, August 31st 2021. Who will make their way into the second round?

Will Bianca Andreescu show us the tennis that won her the 2019 US Open as she has ben in a downwards slope of form in the last year or will Viktorija Golubic take advantage of a much depleted opponent in terms of confidence and motivation?

Viktorija Golubic has not been in the best of form recently, always losing early in tournaments and never really getting a good rhythm going. Viktorija knows she has the level to go far into big tournaments, especially after reaching the quarter finals at Wimbledon a couple months ago, however, she is going to meet a Grand Slam champion in Bianca in the first round, and she will know that she will have a tough match, but it could also be a huge boost of confidence if she is able to cause the big upset.

Bianca Andreescu will be missing the 2019 season where she took over the US hard court season, winning in Cincinnati and then the US Open. Bianca is such a good player when she is at her best, she is able to dictate play from the baseline and she is not afraid to come in at the net. However, injuries have plagued her and she has then lost her confidence due to this. Bianca will know that luck can change for a tennis player from one day to the next so she will be hoping that it turns back in her favour here at the US Open.

This is going to be the 1^st meeting between both players, and although Viktorija has been in better form in 2021 than Bianca, I do expect a tight win for Bianca here. Bianca has a love for these courts due to her success here, but she knows she is going to have to fight to get herself back to her best. Bianca knows this is a make or break tournament, where she either gets a few good wins and begins to build some momentum, or she loses early and it is back on the losing confidence in herself train.
