Antwerp Open: Richard Gasquet vs. Alex De Minaur 10/21/20 Tennis Prediction

Richard Gasquet meets Alex De Minaur in the first round of the 2020 Antwerp Open on Tuesday, October 20th 2020. Will this be a repeat of their first round encounter at the 2020 US Open, or will Gasquet get his revenge on the young and talented De Minaur?

Alex De Minaur is one of the best young prospects in the ATP Tour, however, since he beat Gasquet in the first round at the 2020 US Open, he has not been able to do much in terms of good results. De Minaur has not played much recently and I believe that he definitely needs to gain some more minutes under his belt if he is to be as good as he was last year or in early 2020 at the ATP Cup. I think that De Minaur will be a top 10 player in the next 2 years as he has a superb game when he is confident and on top of his game.

Richard Gasquet was knocked out of the St. Petersburg Open in the first round last week against Daniil Medvedev. Gasquet won the first set in that match but Medvedev was able to win eventually. Gasquet should take a lot of positives from that match because he was superb in that first set. Gasquet has a one-handed backhand which is a beauty to watch and can hit any spot on the court with it. Gasquet has definitely got a lot to improve in his game, but he is also definitely on track to do that by the time next year’s season begins?

This is going to be the second meeting between both players and Alex De Minaur leads the head to head 1-0. They met at the 2020 US Open where De Minaur won in 4 sets. I believe that Richard Gasquet, when on top of his game, is the better player and definitely has more experience to exploit him. De Minaur has not played much recently and when he has played it has not been great, therefore I believe that Gasquet who has gotten some solid minutes under his belt will have the advantage here.
