Belgrade Open: Novak Djokovic vs. Alex Molcan Tennis Prediction

World number one and top seeded Novak Djokovic of Serbia will face unseeded Slovakian Alex Molcan in the Final of the 2021 Belgrade Open. The match is scheduled to be played on Saturday May 29th, 2021 at 8:00am EST.

Novak Djokovic has been having a very inconsistent season, and a poor one by his lofty standards. He has not looked like himself for quite some time and has suffered some very surprising losses. He then surprisingly lost the second set in the Semi to Andrej Martin, with a stunning loss of focus. He knows that he will have to be much better if he is to have any chance at dethroning Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros, and he enters this Final against Alex Molcan as the huge favorite. 

Alex Molcan has been a huge surprise package here at the 2021 Belgrade Open. Many would have expected him to lose in the Qualifying Rounds, as he had never even won a main draw ATP match before. However, here he is in the Final, after a string of outstanding performances. After crushing the field en route to the Semis, he was pushed to the limit by the veteran Federico Delbonis, before prevailing in three tight sets. While he is the massive underdog here, he is playing freely, and has nothing to lose in the match of his life. 

Despite Alex Molcan’s impressive play so far here at the 2021 Belgrade Open, this will be a routine win for the world number one Novak Djokovic. It is true that the Serbian has not been at his best for quite some time, but he is still the best player in the world and is expected to crush the Qualifier. Kudos to Alex Molcan for reaching his first ATP Final, but his run will end here in straight sets.
