American-legend, Jack Sock, meets the tough Australian, John Millman, in the first round of the BNP Paribas Open on Thursday, October 7th, 2021.
Will John Millman show us that he is not to be underrated on the ATP Tour with his consistent base game, or will Jack Sock come out and entertain us as we all know and love to see from him?
John Millman will be looking to bounce back after that tough loss a few weeks ago at the Sofia Open where he lost against Marcos Giron in the quarter finals. John Millman is a solid player on his day, with a great overall game. However, sometimes he lets himself down in tournaments where he meets lower ranked opponents and takes them too lightly. John will need to change his focus and mindset to ensure this doesn’t happen too often, but can he do it against Jack Sock here in Indian Wells?
Jack Sock has put on some amazing performances this year as he is aiming to get himself and his career back on track. Just at the US Open a month ago, Jack beat big names like Yoshihito Nishioka, Alexander Bublik, and also took a set off of Alexander Zverev. Jack Sock is so entertaining to watch as he is pure joy with his amazing forehand and flamboyant playing style. Can Sock come out here and show us he has recovered strongly from his injury and get himself closer to his best?
Both players have never met before, and if you look at their respective ranking, you would believe that John Millman is a much better player. However, when we compare experience, and success on the ATP Tour, Jack Sock, is ahead of him clearly. John Millman should win this match most times, but as this is in the US and Jack Sock loves playing in front of his home crowd, he shows at a different level.
