Stefanos Tsitsipas looks to march ahead here in Indian Wells as he meets the entertaining Fabio Fognini in the third round here at the BNP Paribas Open on Tuesday, October 12th, 2021.

Will Stefanos Tsitsipas be able to get a relatively expected win under his belt as he aims to get some momentum going into these last few tournaments of the season, or will Fabio Fognini come out and show us his amazing level we know he can play with and cause the upset?

Fabio Fognini had to fight through a tight first match here in Indian Wells, beating the big swinging German, Jan-Lennard Struff, in 3 sets 6-4/4-6/6-3. Fabio Fognini is a great player on his day and he knows that when he is injury free, he can definitely give anyone a run for their money. However, what hurts him mostly at times, is his concentration and determination. Fabio often gives up when he’s down in matches, so its always hard to predict against him.

Stefanos Tsitsipas cruised through his first match here, beating the Spaniard, Pedro Martinez, in 2 easy sets 6-2/6-4. Stefanos knows he should have done better at the US Open and he will want to show everyone that he has a high chance to win any tournament he enters for the next month and a half. Tsitsipas loves these hot conditions where his ball flies through the court at incredible speeds, and he will win a lot of free points just off of his serve.

Both players have met twice before, with Stefanos having won both of their prior encounters quite easily in 2 sets. They haven’t met in these outdoor hot hard court conditions, but going off of their 2021 seasons, I am sure that Stefanos will come into this match heavy favourite and ready to dominate. Fabio can keep things tight at moments and will put on a show, but he also will most likely lose it when he’s down in the scoreboard, giving more momentum to Tsitsipas.
