Casper Ruud will meet JJ Wolf in the Round of 16 at the 2023 Geneva Open. The match will be played on Wednesday May 24th, 2023. 

Casper Ruud is the top seed here at the 2023 Geneva Open and is ranked 4th in the world. The two-time defending champion here will be looking to repeat as he gears up towards Roland Garros, where he reached the Final in 2022. After a First Round bye, he has been drawn against JJ Wolf, the dangerous American. Ruud’s clay court pedigree is unmatched by most of the tour, and he will be expecting to win this one comfortably. He has more firepower than his opponent in all areas, and it will be a massive upset if anything other than a victory occurs. 

JJ Wolf is unseeded here at the 2023 Geneva Open and is ranked 49th on the ATP Tour. The American has really stepped his level up over the past year, and is now a force to be reckoned with in the lower ATP events. In what I consider an upset on this surface, he defeated Hugo Dellien with ease in the First Round, using his dominant forehand to great effect, winning 6-4, 6-2. While he is the big underdog here, he has shown that his clay court is improving and his work rate is at a high level. 

Despite this being a very tough year for Casper Ruud, I still expect him to run through this match with ease. JJ Wolf is much improved, and looked exceptional in his First Round win, but we have to remember that Ruud is on a whole other level. Other than Nadal, Djokovic and Alcaraz he is possibly the next best clay court player in the world, and is strongly expect to defend his title here at the 2023 Geneva Open. I like Wolf, but give me Ruud in straight sets here.
