He may be fatigued and picked up a slight injury in Munich, so it remains to be seen what his fitness levels are for this one, but he is the favorite here against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina to move on to the Round of 16.

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina is seeded 29th here at the Madrid Masters and is ranked 35th in the world. The flashy Spaniard cruised past countryman Albert Ramos-Vinolas in the First Round, overpowering his opponent from the baseline and using his trademark drop shots to full effect. It was an impressive straight-sets win, but his next opponent Holger Rune is a totally different level on this surface and he will have to be much better if he is to pose a challenge.

Despite Holger Rune’s struggles against Bublik, I am still backing him to get the win here over Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. He is one of the best clay court players in the world, and a true dark horse candidate to win here, and later on at Roland Garros. If his fitness levels are near to 100%, give me the Danish star to get the win here in Madrid and move on to the next round.
