A blockbuster match is expected as the young Polish star Hubert Hurkacz will play against former world number one Andy Murray in the Quarter-Finals here at the 2021 Metz Open in France. This will be a match of contrasting styles with both men very motivated and capable of getting the win here. Hurkacz enters as the obvious favorite given his higher ranking and exploits this year, but one can never count the experienced Murray out, especially given his fine form at the moment. Can he cause the huge upset here and knock the number one seed out here and advance to the Semis?

Hubert Hurkacz is the number one seed here at the 2021 Metz Open and is currently ranked #13 on the ATP Tour. The Polish number one has enjoyed a breakout season this year, winning his first Masters-1000 title at the Miami Open and reaching the Semi-Finals of Wimbledon. He has been quite inconsistent since however, and will be hoping to win the title here as the favorite, to get his season back on track and to get back to winning ways. His huge serve and groundstrokes are massive weapons on this quick indoor surface, and he crushed Lucas Pouille in straight sets in the Round of 16, never looking in any danger of being broken and dominating the match from the baseline with his forehand. He is the favorite here against Andy Murray, but knows that he cannot underestimate the former Grand Slam champion, and will have to be at his best if he is to advance to the Semi-Finals.

Andy Murray is a former world number one who currently finds himself ranked at #113 due to serious issues with injuries over the past few seasons which threatened to end his career. He has shown flashes of his former self off and on earlier on in his comeback, but he has become much more consistent now, and finally seems to be close to full fitness. His elite all around game and experience make him an extremely dangerous opponent on any surface, and even though he does not count indoor hard as his favorite, he has a very good record on the surface throughout his career. After a stunning upset win over hometown favorite Ugo Humbert in the First Round he cruised past Vasek Pospisil in the Round of 16, setting up this exciting clash with top seed Ugo Humbert. While Murray is the underdog, his consistency and strong tactical sense will pose some problems for the sometimes erratic Pole, and this match may be closer than some expect.

I expect this to be a very close match, and one that could possibly go the distance. Andy Murray is a very tough opponent and I think that he will cause the number one seed tons of problems, but I do think that Hurkacz will eventually come out on top. He simply has a bit too much firepower, and one this quick surface Murray will struggle to break serve. The Scotsman is playing great tennis at the moment and certainly has a chance to cause the upset here, but ultimately I think that expecting him to sustain a high enough level to win this match over three sets is a bit too much to ask. This will be a very entertaining battle and will be full of high-quality tennis, but I expect Hubert Hurkacz to get the very tough win, advancing to the Semi-Finals of the 2021 Metz Open.
