Monaco Masters: Novak Djokovic vs Jannik Sinner 4/14/21 Tennis Prediction

Top seeded Novak Djokovic of Serbia will face unseeded Italian sensation Jannik Sinner in the Second Round of the 2021 Monte-Carlo Masters. The match is scheduled to be played on Wednesday March 14th, 2021 at 6:20am EST. 

This is sure to be a blockbuster match between a current vs future superstar. Can the young star Jannik Sinner continue his amazing recent form and cause a shocking upset here in Monaco? Or will the world number one get the win and advance to the Round of 16 here at the 2021 Monte-Carlo Open as expected?

Novak Djokovic is a tennis legend and will go down in history as one of the best to ever play the game. He started the year off strongly, claiming his 18th Grand Slam title at the Australian Open but has not played since, as he sustained an abdominal injury during that title run. While he has not played a match in a long time, his vast experience will make up for that, and it should not take long until he is acclimatized to the conditions here in Monaco. He has been handed a tough draw however, against one of the most in-form players on the ATP Tour in Jannik Sinner, who will certainly give him a run for his money. 

Jannik Sinner is a rising superstar on the ATP Tour, and has been in fantastic form so far in 2021. He won his second career title in Adelaide, and backed that up with a shocking run to the Final at the Miami Open, his first Masters-1000 Final. There seems to be no limit to what this kid can do, and he is already at a career high #22 in the world at age 19. While he is the underdog here, he definitely has the game to ask some questions of the world number one, and an upset cannot be discounted here. 

All things considered, I am going with Novak Djokovic to win. Even with the long layoff, his immense experience and sheer will to win should take him over the top here. Jannik Sinner is very close to being able to challenge the top players at these events, but he is not quite there yet. Expect a close contest, with the Italian possibly sneaking a set, but ultimately Novak Djokovic will advance here in Monaco.
