Paris Masters: Stan Wawrinka vs. Daniel Evans 11/03/20 Tennis Prediction

2020-11-03 05:00:00 EDT

It is a rematch of the 2020 St. Petersburg Open as Stan Wawrinka meets Daniel Evans in the first round of the 2020 Paris Masters on Tuesday, October 3rd 2020. Will Wawrinka be able to come out on top as he did in Russia, or will Evans get his revenge?

Stan Wawrinka was not very solid last week in Vienna, losing in the first round in a tight 3-set encounter against Cristian Garin. Marin had complete control of that match in the first two sets, however, somehow Wawrinka was able to steal the second set and pose a threat to the Chilean. However, in the third set, Wawrinka was not in control at all and gave the match back to the young Chilean who ran away winning 6-3. Wawrinka is 35 years old now and his level has not been as good as it should be, or as good as we know it could be. Can Wawrinka be solid once last time this year, or will he be looking to next year?

Daniel Evans was incredible last week at the 2020 Vienna Open, reaching the semifinals beating Grigor Dimitrov along the way. Evans was solid all throughout the tournament and he put himself in a great position to make the final. However, the young and highly confident Lorenzo Sonego who had just beaten Novak Djokovic in straight sets, was able to back up his victory there. However, Dan has been very good in the last few weeks and he will be confident in his game here.

This is going to be the 5th meeting between both players, with Stan Wawrinka leading the head to head 4-0. They met a few weeks ago in a match where Wawrinka did not play his best, but still managed to come out on top. If Stan the Man comes out here playing some solid tennis, there is no chance Evans wins it. But if Wawrinka comes back playing the same way he did against Evans in their last encounter, you’d like to believe Evans learnt how to deal with the game. I still back Wawrinka here.
