Sebastian Korda vs Marco Cecchinato
May 29, 2021 9:15 am EDT

Sebastian Korda of the USA will face Italian Marco Cecchinato in the Final of the 2021 Parma Open. The match is scheduled to be played on Saturday May 29th, 2021 at 9:15am EST.

This is sure to be a thrilling match between the exciting youngster Sebastian Korda and the veteran Marco Cecchinato. Both men have played some fantastic tennis this week at the 2021 Parma Open and are seeking to win their first title of the year. Can the NextGen star Korda overcome the challenge from his opponent as he tries to win his first career title? Or can the Italian claim his fourth?

Sebastian Korda is one of the most promising young players on the ATP Tour, and is already ranked number 63 in the ATP world rankings. The youngster started the year in fantastic form, reaching the Final in Delray Beach and then stunning the tennis world by reaching his first Masters-1000 Semi in Miami. He has had a miserable start to his clay court season before the 2021 Parma Open however, boasting the poor record of 1-4. He has turned it around here in Italy however, with some outstanding performances. Korda has a big serve and huge baseline game, and in this type of form has to be considered the favorite here. He dismantled countryman Tommy Paul in straight sets in the Semis, and the stage is set for him to take the title.

Marco Cecchinato was once considered one of the very best clay court players in the world, and was in the top 20 just a few short years ago. However, the Italian finds himself languishing at #103 in the ATP world rankings. He will be delighted to have found form here at home, and will certainly re-enter the top 100 in the world after this week. He was outstanding against the in-form Jaume Munar in the Semis, winning a marathon three setter. If fatigue is not a factor, he should pose a formidable test to the young Sebastian Korda due to his experience and fine recent form.

This match could potentially go either way, and both men are capable of winning here. However, I am going with upside, and that is Sebastian Korda. The young star simply has a gear that Marco Cecchinato does not, and if nerves don’t play a big part should win relatively comfortably here. Cecchinato is a tough opponent, and has bags of experience, but I am going with Korda to win in straight sets, winning his first career title here at the 2021 Belgrade Open.
