US Open: Stefanos Tsitsipas vs. Adrian Mannarino 9/1/21 Tennis Prediction

Third seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece will face unseeded Frenchman Adrian Mannarino in the Second Round of the 2021 US Open. The match is scheduled to be played on Wednesday September 1st, 2021 at approximately 8:15pm EST.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is the world number three and is desperately seeking his first Grand Slam title. He has built up some serious momentum this year and has truly broken out, competing at all the big events. He is expected to challenge for the title here but has gotten off to a shaky start. Can he get back on track and head towards his goal? Or will the veteran Frenchman Adrian Mannarino be able to cause the stunning upset here at the 2021 US Open?

Stefanos Tsitsipas is the third seed here at the 2021 US Open and is also ranked at a career-high #3 in the world rankings. The Greek superstar has had a breakout year so far in 2021, winning his first ATP-1000 title in Monte-Carlo and reaching his maiden Grand Slam Final at Roland Garros. He is a major threat to win the title here in New York but was not convincing in his First Round win over Andy Murray, but was able to recover well and get the victory, which was important. Tsitsipas really raised his level in the final two sets to seal the victory but knows that he will have to be better if he is to make a deep run here, and will be looking to be more clinical in his next match against Adrian Mannarino. He has an excellent opportunity to iron out the kinks here and will expect to win this match comfortably.

Adrian Mannarino is unseeded here at the 2021 US Open and is currently ranked #44 in the world. He is a very solid baseline player that can be dangerous at times, and is the type of player that you have to hit through and overpower. Like Tsitsipas, he was pushed to five sets in the First Round, defeating countryman Pierre-Hugues Herbert in a exhilirating win. The Frenchman had to fight back from two sets to love down, so his confidence will be high here. Since they both have been on court for a similar amount of time, there is no advantage to be had over his opponent Stefanos Tsitsipas and Mannarino is the heavy underdog here in the Second Round match at the 2021 US Open.

This will be the third time that the two players are meeting on the ATP Tour, and they have split the first two matches. This looks like a mismatch on paper and it will be one in real life, as the Greek star is a much better player and should be able to dominate on these courts. Adrian Mannarino is a fantastic player but his weak serve will greatly hinder his chances here and unless he is able to hit through Tsitsipas then he is likely to be overpowered here. Stefanos Tsitsipas will be on a mission to wrap this match up quickly so that he can get some rest after his First Round marathon and I am expecting him to get his wish, and advance to the Third Round here at the 2021 US Open.
