Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Frances Tiafoe
June 28, 2021 9:15 am EDT
Third seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece will face American Frances Tiafoe in the First Round of the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. The match is scheduled to be played on Monday June 28th, 2021 at approximately 9:15am EST.
A very exciting matchup is expected when Stefanos Tsitsipas and Frances Tiafoe lock horns at the 2021 Wimbledon Open. Both players are extremely talented and flashy, and play an exciting brand of tennis that is sure to please the tennis fans. The Greek star is one of the main contenders for the title here at Wimbledon and big things are expected of him here. Tiafoe is a solid player who has been having some struggles lately, but he is not someone to take lightly, as he certainly has the game to beat the very best players in the world at times. Can he cause the massive upset here and advance to the Second Round?
Stefanos Tsitsipas is currently ranked #4 in the ATP rankings and is the third seed here at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. The Greek has had an outstanding season so far this year, winning his maiden Masters-1000 title in Monte-Carlo and reaching his first Grand Slam title at the French Open. His game is perfectly suited for this surface, and his big serve and all around game will make him a serious threat. Tsitsipas has improved greatly over the past couple years and is viewed as one of the main contenders to try to take Novak Djokovic’s crown. He enters this match as the favorite over Frances Tiafoe and it will take a hurculean effort to stop him here.
Frances Tiafoe is currently ranked #56 and was as high as the top 30 a couple of years ago. The American burst onto the scene as a very talented teenager a few years ago, and after reaching the Quarter-Finals at the Australian Open, big things were expected of him. However, his career has stagnated a bit over the past few years, and he has not reached the heights that many thought he would. His preparation for the 2021 Wimbledon 2021 Championships has been inconsistent, winning a Challenger title in Nottingham, reaching the Quarter-Finals at Queens before losing in the First Round in Eastbourne. Despite his young age, he is very experienced and is a tough opponent, one that Stefanos Tsitsipas should not take lightly here.
This will be a tough test for Stefanos Tsitsipas so early on here at Wimbledon, but it is one that he will pass with flying colours. The Greek superstar has matured a lot as a player and seems ready to fight for the big titles such as this one. Frances Tiafoe is a very dangerous player but it is very unlikely that he will be able to sustain the focus and level needed to get the win here. I wouldn’t be shocked if the American steals a set, but that’s about as good as it will get for him, and he should go down relatively comfortably. Stefanos Tsitsipas to win.
