Wimbledon: Andrey Rublev vs. Lloyd Harris 6/30/21 Tennis Prediction
Andrey Rublev vs Lloyd Harris
June 30, 2021 12:00 pm EDT
Fifth seed Andrey Rublev of Russian will face unseeded South African in the Second Round of the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. Both men were surprisingly tested more than expected in the First Round and will be hoping for a better performance here. Who will get the win and advance to the Third Round?
Andrey Rublev is currently ranked #7 on the Tour and has had huge success over the past few years. He won an impressive five titles last season and will be looking for a major breakthrough this year at Wimbledon. He has performed decently at all the slams besides this one, and will be hoping to set that right this season. He had some good preparation for this event by reaching the Final in Halle, and is in good form on grass at the moment. He struggled early on against Federico Delbonis and knows he will have to be much better here against the big-serving Lloyd Harris.
Lloyd Harris is currently ranked #50 in the ATP rankings and has had some good results over the past few seasons, breaking into the top 50 and winning his first ATP Title. The South African won in three tough sets over Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis, and his style of play is well suited to the grass courts here at Wimbledon. While he is the underdog against the 7th seeded Rublev, he will be confident that his serve and big groundstrokes can keep him competitive here.
This will be the second meeting between the two players, and Rublev won their only match 6-3, 6-0 last year in Adelaide. Andrey Rublev is the big favorite here due to his high ranking, but Harris can be dangerous under the right situations. I think that this will be a tight match, but one that the Russian will win. Neither man has much grass court experience, so we have to go with the better player and that is clearly Rublev. He will win here in three or four sets, advancing to the Third Round here at Wimbledon 2021.
