Wimbledon: Andy Murray vs. Oscar Otte 6/30/21 Tennis Prediction
Andy Murray vs Oscar Otte
June 30, 2021 1:00 pm EDT
Unseeded Pair Andy Murray and Oscar Otte will face off in the Second Round here at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. The match is scheduled to be played on Wednesday June 30th, 2021.
Both men were stretched in their First Round matches here and may be feeling a bit of fatigue here. Andy Murray had a big win over top 30 player Nikolosz Basilashvili in four sets, while Oscar Otte needed to go the distance, winning 13-12 in the fifth set. Who will win here and advance to the Third Round here at the 2021 Wimbledon Championships?
Andy Murray is currently ranked #118 on the ATP Tour and is a former world number one. He is a former champion here at Wimbledon and knows Center Court like the back of his hand. His tennis is never a question mark, but his fitness certainly is after all of his serious injuries. With that in mind, he will be upset to have let his First Round opponent Nikolosz Basilashvili into the match after being in complete control, and ended up having to play over an hour more than he would have liked. While this should not affect him too much in this match against Oscar Otte that he is expected to win, it may have an effect on his body as he gets deeper into the draw.
Oscar Otte is the #151st player in the ATP world rankings and was a Qualifier here at the Wimbledon Championships. He then was stretched to the max by his First Round opponent Arthur Rinderknech, winning in a fifth set tiebreaker. While he will have been happy to get the win, that much must have taken a lot out of him and coming up against a former world number one and Wimbledon champion will not be easy in his condition. Andy Murray has been looking good lately, and Otte enters this match as the massive underdog.
This is the first time that Murray and Otte will be playing each other on the ATP Tour, and I think that Andy Murray should win this relatively easily. The German is a very good player, but he will be feeling the effects of the Qualifying matches plus his long five setter. Andy Murray’s experienced here at Wimbledon is unmatched, and I expect him to win comfortably here, advancing to the Third Round at his home Grand Slam of Wimbledon.
